The Christian Outreach Project

The Christian Outreach Project is a non-profit organization, part of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. For one week each summer, COP sends groups to houses in local communities to provide housing repairs to homeowners who are unable to handle the projects themselves.

The Christian Outreach Project (COP) seeks to provide free home repairs and renovations for those people in northwest New Jersey who do not have the means to pay.  Youth and adult volunteers donate their caring and skills while learning and growing in the process. Tasks will include cleaning gutters, small repairs, and equipment installation for those in need.

The week for COP 2025 is June 22 – June 28.  The cost for participants is $435.  This money goes to help offset the costs incurred through use of the Camp Hoover facilities, as well as to help pay for the supplies necessary to complete the projects undertaken.

There are available scholarship funds for potential participants who are in need of financial help to attend this summer’s program.  Complete the group registration form ASAP as our program fills up on a first come, first served basis.

Below are group application instructions and a group registration form for COP 2025 (6/22-6/28) as well as the latest brochure.  COP is a Greater New Jersey Annual Conference Advance Special as well as A Future with Hope – Hope Center.

Clothing Delivery through Nick’s Hope

Family Promise of Sussex County and Nick’s Hope have partnered together to bring clothing resources to the residents of Newton.

Nick’s Hope is a New Jersey nonprofit bringing free clothing to those in need, utilizing donations of gently used garments to lessen the environmental strain on landfills. After cleaning and repurposing, these clothes support individuals facing disadvantage or transition.

Nick’s Hope supports over 400 families in New Jersey. Since May 2020, Nick’s Hope has distributed over 40,000 articles of clothing, footwear and accessories to those in need. This number equates to over 20,000 lbs. of clothing that may otherwise have entered our landfills.

In conjunction with social services in several New Jersey counties, all free clothing items are provided to community families through mobile pop-up Clothing events and through an online ordering program.

Those in need can either attend an in person mobile pop-up which is held at multiple locations throughout the year, or they can shop for FREE clothing via an online ordering system.

The orders are filled, packaged and delivered by volunteers to a central location in various NJ towns every few weeks.
