Back in the day when Jordan played for the Bulls and Barkley played for the Suns, I watched the NBA quite often. Recently I re-discovered Barkley and Shaq on the pre-game NBA Tip Off show on ABC. Even though time had passed with my engagement in basketball, I started watching the ½ hour pre-game just for their very funny commentary and then the NY Knicks made it to the finals this year!

The last time the Knicks were in an NBA final was in 1999 and coincidentally their opponent was the Spurs who they are facing this year! The last time the Knicks won the championship was in 1973 so to say there is excitement and frenzy around NY and NJ is an understatement.

I think with all of the uncertainty and negative news it’s nice to have something that anyone – everyone can rally and get behind. Just look at some of the fans. The Knicks have Ben Stiller, Spike Lee and the Spurs have a large group of Catholic Nuns among their respective fan bases!

So, even if you are not a basketball fan…let’s all agree that we need to have something to cheer about. My prediction…Knicks in four.
