Mobile Outreach and Engagement Program
Now serving residents of Sussex County
The purpose of the mobile outreach and engagement program is to engage with those who are experiencing homelessness in camps, under bridges, at parks, in temporary motels, shelters, meal sites, libraries, and public facilities, and those at risk of becoming homeless and rapidly entering into unsheltered conditions.
Responsibility to the Community
The mobile outreach and engagement specialist will conduct outreach and engagement activities with unsheltered individuals and families in rural and suburban communities of Sussex County for the following populations:
People Experiencing Homelessness
to help vulnerable populations enter services to end their homelessness as quickly as possible
People at Risk of Becoming Homeless
to provide creative problem-solving strategies to prevent homelessness from occurring
Program Services
Transportation Provided to our Clients:
• Family Promise office visits for laundry and showers
• Obtaining ID documents
• Medical appointments
• Shelters
Emergency Items Provided During Outreach
• Resource Guide
• First Aid Kits
• Food & Water
The Outreach Specialists will:
• Conduct face-to-face outreach, build rapport, and provide transportation to shelter and other services
• Provide opportunities for consumers to apply to the agency’s low-barrier programs
• Build relationships with existing housing resources and service providers
• Identify and refer consumers to shelter and housing options
• Capture precise location data (latitude/longitude, MGRS grid, or street address) for consumers encountered and served
• Connect consumers to community support and service
