Chris Butto, LSW

Throughout her career, Chris has supervised many programs including in-home prevention and support. She was the Program Coordinator at Berkshire Farms Services in Orange County, NY where she managed a family reunification program in collaboration with the Orange County Department of Children and Youth. Prior to joining Family Promise of Sussex County, Chris was the Coordinator for the Multi-Disciplinary Investigative Team in Pike County, Pennsylvania where she facilitated a coordinated approach to investigations of child abuse and neglect. Chris was a member of Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey working to build a system promoting greater childhood experiences by helping parents to nurture, develop, and sustain healthy children. Chris received the “2021 Hero” award, an honor bestowed upon her by the 11th Congressional District of New Jersey and the office of Mikie Sherrill which states, “in recognition of the difference you made in the lives of others during the pandemic.” In 2022, Family Promise of Sussex County also received the “Service and Community” congressional recognition from the office of Josh Gottheimer. The agency received the 2022 “Quality in Business, Quality in Living Award” presented by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce. In her spare time, Chris can be found enjoying her garden patio with a book in hand. Her most valued moments include time spent with her family including her husband, children, grandchildren, and closest friends.

Leadership Team

Ashley Helaudais, MA

Ashley provides administrative support and oversight of agency projects. She came to Family Promise after spending over a decade in the corporate world and has an M.A. in forensic psychology from Marymount University and a B.A. in journalism from Temple University. Ashley manages and writes grants, facilitates client feedback, oversees fundraising events, and provides administrative support on a variety of agency projects. She enjoys long walks, horror movies, books, New York City history and spending time with friends and family.

Dawn Hendershot, JD

Dawn is the Community Manager for Family Promise of Sussex County. Dawn earned a Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law, Newark and a Bachelor of Arts from Seton Hall University.  Dawn works to ensure that residents of four counties (Sussex, Morris, Warren, and Hunterdon) are aware of the state programs that assist with heating and electric bills.  Her team is dedicated to creating, adjudicating, and ensuring correct payment of applications for all residents who qualify.  Dawn also works hard for the employees of FPSC, assisting with recruiting, onboarding and training. Alongside her talented team, she promotes the agency through outreach events, social media, donor relations, and community engagement.  You can even find her hosting the agency sponsored Trivia Nights once a month.  In her spare time, Dawn loves hiking with her dog, Max;  playing board games with family; going on adventures with friends; and watching football and hockey.

Frank Zywicki, JD

Frank Zywicki supervises FPSC’s Intake, Prevention, and Crisis Management departments.  As a Sussex County native, Frank grew up in this area, and continues to enjoy the beauty of this incredible region with hobbies like hiking and fishing.  After spending a few years away to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Law & Justice from Rowan University and a Juris Doctorate from the Charlotte School of Law, Frank has returned to serve the good people of Sussex and Morris County.  As the supervisor of the Intake Department, he helps guide the front office staff responsible for all the calls and individuals that come into our organization.  By actively listening and responding, this team takes great care to engage with prospective clients, learn about the circumstances that brought them to our agency, and ensure that their stories are given to the right people.  As the supervisor of the Prevention and Crisis Management departments, Frank oversees exciting programs, like Homelessness Prevention (HPP) and Comprehensive Eviction Defense and Diversion (CEDD).  With these programs, Frank and his team work tirelessly to secure funding, initiate relocation efforts, and collaborate with other area organizations to further the housing security of our clients.

Laura Busch, BA

Laura is the Business Partnership Manager, playing an integral role in the cultivation and management of the agency’s partner relationships.  She also oversees a team of housing navigators and is the writer for the agency’s blog.  Laura considers working at Family Promise of Sussex County her third act.  The first act was having spent many years in corporate marketing.  Followed by her second act of obtaining her real estate license and working as a full-time agent, as well as supporting both real estate offices and landlord/investors in various positions.  After work you can find Laura sitting on her deck doing Wordle, The Mini and now Connections!

Nancy Renna, AA

Nancy is the Administrative Assistant -Bookkeeper. She came to the agency in 2019 after working for over thirty years in the Banking and Financial industry.  She has extensive bookkeeping, record keeping and administrative experience. Nancy earned her experiences through AIB and hands on job training. Nancy assists the Executive Director in maintaining and processing the financial records for the agency. Nancy is a proud grandmother of six beautiful grandchildren. She enjoys being outdoors, taking long walks, and working in her garden.
